Interesting Information on cells

1. Not all plant cells have chlorophyll. For example, the scale leaves of an onion do not have chlorophyll.

2. Not all cells look alike. Compare cheek cells, red blood cell and nerve cell.

Click here to see Cell Pictures

3. A cell can survive on its own. That is why it is the basic unit of life.

Vacuole in a Plant cell

CELL SAP VACUOLE
The cell sap vacuole in plants is much larger than animals. In plant cells the vacuoles are usually large and permament and have the same function. In addition to storing important substances, it also helps support the plant. The pressure of water filling the cell vacuole pushes out against the cell wall. This gives the wall enough strength to hold up fairly large green plants. We all know the first indication that we are not giving our house plants enough water. They start to droop or wilt. Now you know who, so keep that cell sap vacuole filled with water.

Help needed

Dear children,

As part of the Use Your Hands Campaign, our class has to decorate our noticeboard with photographs of you and your classmates cleaning the classroom.

I have taken the photos and I need two favours from anyone:

1. To print the words "Use Your Hands Campaign" in colour and font size of 150.
2. To print out the photos in colour on a A4 size normal paper - I have 18 photographs so maybe 1 person can help to print one.

Let me know if you can help. Thank you!
